Angelo Montanaro comes from the Southern Italian town of Martina Franca and currently resides in Valladolid, Spain.

He has a dynamic and eclectic freelance career across Europe since a very young age, performing with a wide range of orchestras, including the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Orchestra Mozart, Orchestre National de France, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Tonhalle Orchester, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Orquesta de Castilla y León, Sinfónica de Madrid, and Teatro La Fenice.

A true enthusiast of chamber music, Angelo has participated in prestigious festivals such as Verbier, Varignana Music Festival, Ritratti, Nuove Carriere, Ravenna Musica, and concerts with Orchestra Mozart. He has worked with Natalia Ensemble, Azahar Ensemble and collaborated with many renowned artists including Eddie Daniels, Ray Chen, Gordan Nikolic, Beatrice Rana, Kirill Troussov, and Lorenzo Micheli. Additionally, he has performed at the Koblenz Guitar Festival and recorded the premiere of Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco's "Morning in Iowa" alongside David Knopfler from Dire Straits and Ensemble '05.

His soloist career has taken him to South Africa, Switzerland, and Italy with the KwaZulu-Natal Orchestra, Orchestra Haydn di Trento e Bolzano, Filarmonica di Torino, Tibor Varga Festival Orchestra, Ensemble '05, Società dei Concerti di Bari, and Orchestra della Magna Grecia. He has collaborated with esteemed conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Zubin Mehta, Charles Dutoit, Frans Brüggen, Antonio Pappano, Herbert Blomstedt, Valery Gergiev, Gianandrea Noseda, Fabio Luisi, Manfred Honeck, Daniel Harding, and Yannick Nézet-Séguin.

He has received numerous awards in international competitions such as Unisa Pretoria, Città di Chieri, Marco Fiorindo, CNME Riddes, Rino Viani, Giuseppe Tassis, Pedro Bote, Città di Carlino, Saverio Mercadante, and Audimozart.

In addition to his performance career, his passion for pedagogy led him to become a Chamber Music Professor at the Conservatorio Superior de Castilla y León in Salamanca (Spain) since 2016 and in 2024 at the Conservatorio Superiore in Taranto (Italy). He gives masterclasses in Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Japan, and South Africa.

Angelo is an endorser of Selmer Paris and D'Addario Woodwinds.

He studied at the Conservatorio Nino Rota in Monopoli, under Alessandro Carbonare at the Accademia Santa Cecilia and completed his Master’s Degree at the Haute École de Musique in Geneva with Thomas Friedli, Romain Guyot, and Michel Westphal.
